Use Teflon tape, it is great stuff, if you ever have to unload from the breech you will really appreciate it, powder doesn’t get in all the threads of the breech. Also it will seal the threads better than any grease. Cleaning the threads of the Breach is a breeze.

Should you use bore butter on muzzleloader?
The first step is to remove all traces of oil from your muzzleloader by cleaning the bore with hot water and a detergent. Then coat the bore with Bore Butter using a patch or swab saturated with it. From that point on, never allow a petroleum based lube to interfere with the Natural Lube.
