How do I care for my Prineo dressing?
After showering or bathing, gently blot your incision or wound dry with a soft towel. If a dry protective dressing is being used over DERMABOND PRINEO System, it should be replaced with a fresh, dry protective dressing after showering or bathing as directed by your health care practitioner.

DERMABOND® PRINEO® combines the proven strength, flexibility, and microbial barrier of DERMABOND ADVANCED® with the security of a self-adhering mesh to facilitate skin closure and an optimal healing environment.
What is a dermabond dressing?
DERMABOND* Topical Skin Adhesive (2-octyl cyanoacrylate) is a sterile, liquid skin adhesive that holds wound edges together. The film will usually remain in place for 5 to 10 days, then naturally fall off your skin.
Should you cover Dermabond?
No bandage is necessary. Do not apply any ointments, lotions, creams, or tape over the Dermabond film. This may loosen the film before the incision has healed. You do not need to clean the incision with soap or water.
Can Dermabond be reapplied?
A: Yes. As long as the liquid adhesive has not yet been applied, the self-adhering can be removed, adjusted, and repositioned.

Is Dermabond better than stitches?

What activates Dermabond?
The cyanoacrylate is applied while the skin edges are held in apposition and polymerization of the tissue adhesive occurs when it comes in contact with hydroxyl ions in the skin. This combination causes a release of heat which can be noted by the patient as a sensation of warmth.
How long does Dermabond stay on incision?
The Dermabond will hold your child’s incision together at skin level. It will loosen from the skin and fall off in 5 to 10 days. Exposure to water may make it fall off sooner. Call your child’s doctor if the edges of the incision open or pull apart.
