If problems with the patch not sticking continue, cover the patch with special see-through adhesive dressings (for example Bioclusive or Tegaderm). Remove the backing from the transparent adhesive dressing and place it carefully and completely over the BUTRANS patch, smoothing it over the patch and your skin.

Do not expose the patch to extreme heat (e.g. heating pads, electric blanket, heat lamps, sauna, hot tubs, heated water beds, hot water bottle, etc) as this may lead to larger quantities of the active ingredient being absorbed into the blood than normal.

Do you put Tegaderm over your patches?
Tegaderm is good to put on over you patch if it is falling off. If you put Tegaderm over the patch, when taking it off, it will also remove the Butrans patch. I am on my fourth week and I have not protected my patches. I don’t wash over the patch but I shower as usual.
