This medication is used to treat anemia (low red blood cell count) in people with long-term serious kidney disease (chronic kidney failure) and people receiving chemotherapy for some types of cancer (cancer that does not involve the bone marrow or blood cells).
Who should not take Aranesp?
Do not take Aranesp ® if you: Have high blood pressure that is not controlled (uncontrolled hypertension). Have been told by your healthcare provider that you have, or have ever had a type of anemia called Pure Red Cell Aplasia (PRCA) that starts after treatment with Aranesp ® or other erythropoietin medicines.
How often can you give Aranesp?
