What is IMS VoLTE?

The Ribbon VoLTE and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution combines robust IMS service functionality with the ability to securely and intelligently route high volumes of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Diameter traffic together with media processing and transcoding at both the core and the edge of the network.

Is VoLTE and IMS same?

Conclusion. VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is a technology that IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) enables in 4G LTE networks to support voice calls and other enriched communication services over the IP network. IMS can be used in both 4G LTE and 5G NR networks.

What is IMS in LTE network?

IMS – IP Multimedia Subsystem is a standalone system. It resides out of the LTE network and connected to PDN Gateway through SGi interface. The EPC has three main functional elements.

What is Nokia IMS?

Nokia says IMS provides a standardised, future-proof network architecture with open interfaces ensuring interoperability of multivendor equipment, combined with maximum reuse of existing network elements.

Why is IMS needed?

IMS, or IP Multimedia Subsystem, is often touted as a must-have network evolution for mobile operators that want to derive value from future applications. The goal of IMS is to replace the operator’s current back-end network architecture with an all IP-based system making it easier to deploy applications.

Is IMS a VoIP?

Utilizing the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) technology, it is a specific type of VoIP service designed into the LTE standard, which enables users to make voice calls while simultaneously using data network LTE.

How do I change my IMS status?

Go to settings, about, sim card status, and at this point my IMS registration status should have gone from not registered, to registered, however, VoLTE still doesn’t work at this point. Switch back to the IMS settings menu, go back a page and then click “Reset to default” to reset all IMS settings to default.

What is the function of IMS?

IMS core elements are primarily responsible for handing (routing) Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) traffic, as the signaling mechanism of choice for public communications network infrastructures. The Diameter protocol is also widely employed, within the IMS core, for policy control and billing.

Why do we need IMS?
