What is Auro-3D audio?
Auro-3D® is the next generation three-dimensional audio standard. It provides a realistic sound experience unlike anything before. By fully immersing the listener in a cocoon of life-like sound, Auro-3D® creates the sensation of actually ‘being there’.
How does Auro-3D work?
Auro-3D creates a spatial sound field by adding a height layer around the audience on top of the traditional 2D surround sound system. This additional layer reveals both localized sounds and height reflections complementing the sounds that exist in the lower surround layer.

AURO-3D® is a three-dimensional audio technology that immerses the home theater listener in a hemisphere of sound. It uses virtual height channels (no in-ceiling speakers required) to achieve a transformative audio experience that many other multichannel systems cannot offer.

Do you need Auro-3D?
YES! Surely Auro-3D is worthwhile because, besides native Auro content (indeed market no so big as Atmos) Auro-3D uses Auro-Matic® Upmixing which creates sound in 3D from legacy content (i.e. also Atmos), best use case is even playing vinyl input and upmixing to Auro-3D = impressive.
How do you get Auro-3D?
To get the full benefit of Auro 3D Audio, you need movie or music content that is properly encoded. This includes select movies on Blu-ray or Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, as well as select audio-only content on Pure Audio Blu-ray Disc.
Can I use ceiling speakers for Auro-3D?
NOTE: Dolby Atmos speaker configurations with top (ceiling) speakers are not compatible to Auro-3D.
