Is Teflon tubing flexible?

Posted on 12/17/2019 by Emilia Duggan

Is Teflon tubing flexible?

PTFE tubing is the most flexible of all fluoropolymer tubing offered. The smooth surface finish and lowest coefficient of friction & lubricity make the tubing, pipe or rod ideal for bushing or bearing applications. PTFE tubing temperature range is -410°F to 500°F.

What is PTFE used for?

PTFE’s beneficial properties enable it to be used in a wide range of applications, such as seals (including PTFE ‘O’ rings), PTFE gaskets, valves, wire insulation, insulated transformers, bearings, surface coatings, chemical processing equipment, chemical transport and PTFE rubber diaphragms – to name but a few.

What is the difference between PVC and Teflon?

Both materials are durable, flexible, and resistant to chemicals and UV light. However, their key differences cause them to be used in different applications. For example, while PVC can be used as both an insulation and jacketing material, Teflon is typically only used as insulation.

How flexible is Teflon?

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is the most flexible of all fluoropolymer tubing. It also has the broadest temperature range (-400°F to 500°F) and can resist highly corrosive liquids and gases even at elevated temperatures.

Is Teflon tubing rigid?

I.D. HEAVY WALL TEFLON “PFA TUBING” An all virgin Teflon thermoplastic non-porous tubing with the ability to withstand cryogenic to +500°F temperature range, and thick walls for additional strength and a long mechanical life. O.D. Transparent to translucent, more rigid than corresponding TFE or PFA tubing.

Can you buy PTFE?
