The diffuser should be checked monthly and replaced every six months (or after every 6 refills) to ensure optimum effect. How long do the refills last? Feliway® refills last up to 30-days, when plugged-in continuously (24/7).
When should I change my Feliway refill?
When the diffuser is used continuously, we recommend replacing the diffuser after 6 months of use.
What can I use instead of Feliway?
There is Zylkene, Calming Care, Calm-o-mile, Sentry, Natures Miracle calming spray, Vetri-Science’s Composure is another item to look at, Pet Remedy (it has valerian) is yet another, as is Essential Pet Pet-ease, Only Natural Pet (brand and website) has a calming product, Pet Naturals also has one I believe.
Can I leave Feliway plugged in?
The only time to unplug the diffusers is to replace the refill every 4 weeks, even if there are a few drops still remaining. You don’t want it running out and your fur-baby not having the amazing benefits of FELIWAY, and neither do we!
Can humans smell Feliway?
Humans can’t smell Feliway, but cats can. The diffuser uses gentle heat to diffuse the liquid in the little bottle. Over time, you’ll see the contents of the Feliway bottle go down–it takes about a month before it’s empty.
Do you need Feliway in every room?
If the conflict between your cats is associated with spraying or scratching in the home, both FELIWAY Friends and FELIWAY Classic are recommended. The two diffusers should be plugged in where your cats spend most of their time. They can both be used in the same room.
Does Feliway need prescription?

Where do you put Feliway?
You should plug Feliway® Diffuser in the room where the cat(s) spend most of their time or the room most affected by the unwanted marking behaviours such as scratching or urine spraying. A diffuser covers an area up to 70m² (750 sq ft), but must not be covered, placed behind a door or underneath furniture.
