How is FBE coating applied?

The application of FBE powder coatings involves pre-heating the substrate to the required temperature (typically 240°C) by use of induction coils, followed by application of the powder coating. PIH offers powder coating application services.

3-Layer Polyethylene (3LPE) is a multilayer coating composed of three functional components: A high performance Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) primer, followed by a copolymer adhesive and an outer layer of polyethylene which provides tough, durable protection.

Why are pipelines coated?

Coatings reduce corrosion. Corrosion can result on the inside of a pipe due to corrosive components of the natural gas being transported. And it can result on the outside of the pipe due to components of dirt, rock, and groundwater. Corrosion degrades pipe and increases the risk of explosions.
