To Our Valued Guests and Patrons:

This notification is to advise you that we have recently learned that one of our servers has been hacked and it is possible that the hackers may have acquired your credit card information. Once we learned of this event, we contacted both the police and our information technology consultants, both of whom have begun investigating this matter.  Their investigation indicates that the hacking was done through a virus that was somehow placed on one of our servers from an overseas location.  Only guests that used credit cards and debit cards in the Melting Point, Hoyt House and Spa could possibly be effected.  Ticket buyers and hotel guests are not at risk.  We have found no evidence whatsoever that any Foundry Park Inn and Spa or Melting Point employee was involved in these activities.

We have replaced the server that was compromised, and we have employed new security measures designed to prevent such an event from occurring in the future.  We urge you to contact your credit card and debit card providers to put them on notice of the possibility that your credit card or debit card might be improperly utilized.  We also urge you to carefully review all charges on a daily basis to ensure that no unauthorized charges are made. You may also contact the police detective assisting in this investigation directly:

To get you primed and ready for our upcoming show on 3.4 with Tristan Prettyman, we caught up with her and asked her a few questions ::

What got you interested in music?

I think what really really started it was when my brother gave me a mixed tape of Ani Difranco songs. I grew up on the radio, pop music…mixed in with aerobic music (my mom was an instructor) and my Dad always had Jackson Browne on. So I was exposed to a lot, but I think something about being 13/14 a teenager, transitioning into a woman, Ani Difranco really hit home for me. I loved the honesty in her songs. I think thats what lit the fire to always write from my heart, and also be bold and a little shocking. Maybe more, it resonated with me. But whatever happened, it made me wanna learn the guitar so I started teaching myself. And eventually started writing songs. It all came very natural to me, but I also didn’t let anyone know I was doing it for quite some time.

When did you realize music was something you should commit yourself to?

Eventually people started finding out, and that lead to playing at peoples houses and bbq’s, and then eventually open mics, and then eventually my first show at The Belly Up here in town. My parents came to that show and pulled me aside after and said I should take a break from community college and give music a shot. So pretty much in that moment, I said… Oh what the hell!

When did you really feel comfortable with your talent/art?

I dont think until now, until Cedar + Gold, have I really accepted my role as an artist, that is this what I do, that I can make a difference, that I am good enough, have a voice good enough, songs good enough to really make a difference in peoples life through song. I always kind of had this attitude of, Oh well i just fell into this….But not more than ever. I am like ok. Its on. I know what I want, I am focused, lets do this.

What is your favorite thing about being on the road touring?

I love getting to visit all the different cities. The food, the bars, the shopping. Its a really unique and great way to see the world. I love touring in a bus, but there is also something I love about touring in a van. It makes you feel like you are on a road trip, plus I love my band, they are like family, so honestly, most of the time it feels like the brady bunch on vacation, having the best time ever, and playing some songs at night.

Have you ever been to Athens before?

I played at the Georgia Theatre with G Love & Special Sauce back in 2008. I remember a really awesome thrift shop nearby, that I got these killer pair of boots at!

Ben Sollee is a classically trained musician, who after spending years as a backup, embarked upon a songwriting career, toting his beautiful Cello skills with him. He will be joining us at The Melting Point to support Over The Rhine, and you can expect technically proficient and soulful instrumentation, and sweeping vocals.
